Everything I use
Just the basics. Nothing here is sponsored, and I'm not pushing anything. This is what's actually on my shelf.
Measuring heat
Infrared heat gun. This is the important one. It tells you how hot the basking surface actually is, and that's the number that matters.
Digital thermometer. Probe or ambient, doesn't really matter. You just need something reading the air temp.
Heat
Halogen bulbs on dimmers. Relatively low wattage. My cages are short, so I can't just blast heat down at them. The dimmer lets me dial it in without swapping bulbs. Wattage depends on the setup, so check it with the heat gun.
UVB
Arcadia T5. A 22-inch bulb in a 24-inch fixture. The normal one, nothing fancy.
Floor
Play sand and tile. Simple, cheap, and they can dig.
Decor
Tile and bricks from Home Depot for basking spots and hides.
Grapevine and big chunks of wood cut from my own backyard.
